Scribbles 3D Paints

221

Ok I think that I am totally hooked on the Scribbles 3D paint. I love how I can outline everything that I paint and it really makes it pop. I want to share another project that I have made using this one supply.

Have you ever looked at your stash of fabric and just really felt tired of it and wanted something new? I know that I am not the only one that feels this way. Well I decided to take some of the Crystal Gel colors and change up some of my fabric. Here is how it turned out.

007

I love how it turned out. All I did was follow the design that was one the fabric already. Just doing this one little step I ended up with a very unique one-of-a-kind fabric that I can use for any project that comes to mind. now I just have to decide what to make with it. (this is the hard part) Scribbles 3D Paint is great to work with and very easy. I like how if can be used just like another drawing tool.

005

Here is a close up of the design. I really like the way it turned out.

Check out I Love To Create for more ideas using Scribbles 3D Paint.

Loving My Life

At the Atlanta History Center " A Little Girl's Dream House"
I really am working on getting back to post on a more regular basis. I am really enjoying teaching the girls and this has really kept me super busy. I am also getting ready for my open house for A Southern Lady's Designs. I am looking forward to showing all the new items that I have been working on. I am trying to keep the a secret so that when everyone comes they will be the first to see the new stuff. Then the week after the open house I will be spending a few days at the beach with the ladies from our church. I am really looking forward to getting to relax on the beach and read a good book, shop a little and really just enjoy the fellowship. I have not gotten to go to the beach with the ladies since 2007, and I really think that this will be a great trip. We have about 50 ladies and 3 condos so this is great. A private pool and so much more to do. I am so excited. I have a few tutorials that I am writing and I hope to have them uploaded in the next couple of days. I am also in the process of creating an ebook with some of my new tutorials. I will post more information as it gets closer to being finished.
Inspired To Action Button

The newest thing that I have done is start reading an participating in Inspired to Action's Maximize Your Mornings. It is a free ebook that shows you how to be a better mother by taking time for yourself each morning before your kids get up to spend time in prayer and taking care of yourself. It is all about making your morning time work for you so that your day runs better and you are not always feeling overwhelmed with the goings of the day.
To Quote Her: "I’m a Mother. I want to define what Motherhood is to my children. I want to work so hard, pray so passionately, and live so intentionally that they never think about what a mom could or should be, but they think about who I am."
This statement really hit home with me today. I was reading her post and I thought this is what I really want to be. "A Mother" .

Friday Free For All 1

Today is the start of my Friday Free For All. I really have no plans on what I am going to write about or what this post is really about. I plan on just winging it. When I post normally I look through all the pictures that I have taken and not blogged about and I find my inspiration there, but today I want to work in the opposite way today. I really have been busy this week and I have enjoyed it so far. Tomorrow we will meet up with the homeschool group that we have join for the first time. The girls are really looking forward to this event because there is over 50 families  in the group and they are excited about meeting new friends. This week I made a couple of purchases with a few projects in mind. Look for more tutorials coming soon. Here is a link to my currently posted tutorials. I always seem to try and take step-by-step pictures along the way of my projects so that it is east to post a tutorial if I decide to. I really wish I had time to post more of my finished products, but I seem to be making so many that I haven't taken the time to. On Sept. 9, 2011 I will be hosting a open house for all of my new designs for the fall. I have come up will all kinds of new items that I am really excited about showing.

A Wonderfully Busy Week

I have had a very busy week around here but I feel like it has been productive. I wanted to share a few of the highlights that have made this week special.

DSC00456

Our week began with a visit to the Atlanta History Center and on the way we enjoyed lunch at The Varsity .

DSC00458

They really enjoyed the visit and I really think that we will make a return trip for one of the other homeschool days that they have planned.

DSC00461

School week was great they are doing good. The third week went well. I have been looking at the SonLight curriculum and I would love to be able to use this system but it is cost prohibitive for us right now. One of the things that I really like about it thought is that everything thing is learned through reading and it is a great way to learn if you have a child who loves to read. I tried this week to incorporate more reading into each day and with a little less focus on worksheets and I think that is might be a great way to work. Now don’t get me wrong you can’t replace math with reading but History, Geography, Science, and English really can be learned through reading. I also feel that an oral approach is great for my children, so we are incorporating video learning and oral testing. This really seems to be working well. I will link to a few of the videos soon, on the homeschool link page.

I also was able to complete a couple of things on the creative side.

DSC00503

I made a new Nook/Kindle Cover (updated Tutorial coming soon) and a clutch/wristlet purse.

DSC00505

Remember to go and check out the great sponsors on the sidebars. Follow with Google Friend Connect to keep up with our latest giveaways. We have a few coming up in the next couple of months and I am excited to be able to offer some reall great products.

Fat Quarter Shop Sponsor

The Fat Quarter Shop has the special place of being our first sponsor. I only take sponsors that I fee like are a good fit for A Southern Lady's Ramblings and for you the readers. I really like the collection from The Fat Quarter Shop and I know that you will find something you like when you visit their site. The Fat Quarter Shop has a great selection of pre-cuts that will make your projects a breeze. You can also go and Like their Facebook Page for special offers and discounts, let them know that I sent you, when you head over. Let them know that I sent you.  See a few of my favorites after the jump.

The Atlanta History Center

On Monday I took the girls for their first field trip. We went to the Atlanta History Center for the Homeschool Open House. This was a free event for Homeschool families. The Atlanta History Center offer information all day long about events that are scheduled throughout the school year just for homeschool families. While we were there we were able to see all of the exhibits that they have. The Swan House was my favorite stop on the tour, and the girls loved the Smith Farmyard and House. The other exhibits that are offered at the Atlanta History Center are:

The Metropolitan Frontier, This exhibit talks about the way that population shifts have changed the face of Atlanta and the surrounding counties. This is one of the most interesting exhibits in the museum because it really shows how Atlanta used to be and what has shaped it into being what it is today. I wish I had taken a few pictures in this area because it really has some interesting artifacts.

The girls really enjoyed the Olympic area complete with a winner's podium.

This trip is well worth the drive and you can combine it with the Georgia Governor's Mansion if you would like because it is only a couple of miles down the road from it.

pie 001
I love to cook and I have a real sweet tooth. Well I thought that I could make a pie with all the things that I love all in one place, and no eggs so that I can share with a friend. I have always tried to find ways to make a traditional dessert without the eggs because of allergies. If you make it please le me know what you think. It is better served cold but my family will not wait that long. Recipe after the break.

I need a New Iron

DSC00356
Yes I am making a statement with this blog post. My wonderful Proctor Silex iron has stopped working. I came home from church tonight and decided to work on making some binding strips for some hand towels for my girls’ bathroom. I plugged it in and started to make all my strips and had a pile ready to iron and when I picked up the iron and started to iron I noticed that there was no steam. As you can tell by this picture the light is on and it is turned on correctly.

Quilt in Progress

I am working on a quilt pattern that I have been playing around with and I hope that it turns out good. I will be sharing work in progress shots along the way. Right now I am in the process of cutting out the pieces and it is taking a while, but the finished quilt will be worth it. Here is just a glimpse of the fabric combination that I am working with.

DSC00334

I am trying to use the fabrics that I have had in my stash forever and not purchase any new fabric for this, I will let you know if it stays that way. I do have a rather large stash and I wish it was nice and orderly like I see so many around the blogs that I read have theirs but I am working toward that goal. I know that this combination might seem a little crazy but all the colors work together. I am excited to see how it turns out and I hope that you will become a follower so that you can keep up with the progress.

God is Faithful

DSC06957

I really feel that God has always been faithful to my family and I. Sometimes when we least expect it and it feels like the storms are going to overtake us, He is there. Remember that no matter where we are God is there with us. Sometimes the storms knock us down but if we just get up, shake it off, and let God take control, it will work out. It is when we try to work everything out by ourselves that things don’t go right. We have to be willing to give up that control and admit that we are not supposed to try to control everything. We have to surrender ourselves to the will of God, not just with our mouths but with our hearts. Our lives are not our own, we are here to fulfill a purpose and the storms are just a distraction.

For the past few post I have added a scripture at the bottom of each post and I will continue to do this. I feel like God has placed me where I am to be a light and to share my faith and in this way to make this blog to be apart of my ministry. I do not want to limit my ministry to within the 4 walls of the church building. If I can be an influence here as well and make a difference in someone else’s life I want to let myself be used in this way too.

I have always wanted to use the talent that God has given to me to work for him. I hope that you find inspiration here and come back and visit here again.

Patchwork Eye Mask

DSC00280
I have such a huge collection of fabric and fabric scraps. I am trying to make things that use up these small scraps and make something useful out of them.  I used the pattern from 101 Patchwork, but you can use any eye mask pattern that you have on hand. I changed it up a little by foundation piecing it onto a thin muslin.
