Happy Mail

I collected a bunch of collage elements and bits and pieces of paper elements.

I created a bunch of happy mail envelopes while I was snowed in and so I decided to send a few out to the people of the documented life group.

I am working on making a tutorial on how I make these. So watch out for it.

Crazy Week

It has been a super crazy week for me and my family. On Tuesday the snow can in and then my dad had a stroke. I have been  his primary daytime caregiver since October and so I really started to notice that he was not acting right.  His "new normal" was not how he was. We had to call the EMS and they decided to admit him.

So we have a snow storm in Georgia and my dad in the hospital. All day Wednesday were couldn't leave the house and so I couldn't get to the hospital. The girls had a great time with the snow and all and I just wanted to leave. Not a very fun snow day for me.

Today they are out of school again so now that they roads are a little better I will be headed to the hospital and make sure that my dad is alright. (My mom has been staying with him).
So please keep our family in your prayers. Thanks.

Documented Life Week 4

I am really loving this project. The group has really helped me to keep it up. I have kept journals over the years and have a bunch that I have started and dropped for one reason or another , but this one is very fun to complete with a new prompt each week. And I really like having the space to digest my day each evening.

This weeks prompt was a secret message and my daughter love to write me notes so I decided to incorporate her notes from this week into the page.

On the flip side of the page I wrote a quote that I saw on a friends Instagram feed. It really struck me the day I read it and I wanted to put it in this weeks spread.
Here is a close up of all the layers of paper and painted deli papers and washi tape that I filled the page with.

Documented Life Week 3

This weeks prompt was to use an envelope from your mail. Well I had gotten a box of my grandmother's things and this envelope was in it along with the postcard and green stamps. I just thought it was fitting to use them for this page.

New Year, New Opportunities

I have been very busy this month so far working on updating my portfolio and creating new items for my Etsy Shop, as well as opening up a Cafe Press Shop with my designs. Over the next few days there will be new designs listed in my Cafe Press Shop from the images above. You will be able to purchase them on various fashion accessories and home decor items as well as gift items. I really would love to know what you think of these designs.

Baby it's cold outside

When I woke up yesterday morning this is what the temperature was.
Needless to say this GA girl is not prepared for this type of cold. It was so cold that they closed schools. (Our buses will not crank when it is this cold, + our kids don't have the right clothes to wait for the bus in -2 wind chill).
Anastasia thought it was cool to find this big of a chunk of ice in the water bucket outside so she had to bring it in to show me.
This morning it is not much better, but the girls are back in school and they are happy. After almost 3 weeks out they were ready to see their friends, and get out of the house.

Sewn Journal Cover

I love fabric covers for books and journals so I thought why not make one for my planner. I was inspired to use upcycled and scrap fabric and found objects to create the cover.
I have a pretty good collection of scrap fabrics that I just can't part with so I dug through the basket and picked out a few that I thought would work.

I had a few silk flowers left over from and arrangement that I have on my kitchen table and so I took it apart and sewed a couple petals on with some layered fabric in between.

On the back I played around with crazy stitching to create the stem/branches and then added the leaves by ruffling them as I went.

Here is a view without the strap in place.
