I have been making eraser stamps. These erasers I found at the Dollar Tree for 3 for $1.00 and they are really easy to carve and the impressions are really crisp and clean.
This stamp really makes a great all-over pattern and I would really like to have it on a larger scale for printing on fabric.
I love chevron patterns and I saw this tutorial on Julie Fei-Fan Baltzer's blog and had to make a few of these too.
I made two sizes of the chevron also and they both will look great on fabric as well.
Here is the first side of these.
And here is the reverse.

A Great Gift
I am having a great time playing with my new art toy. (no its not a real toy but it is very fun to play with). I love playing with color and layers. This is the easiest way to mono print ever. The Gelli Arts Printing Plate is a simple fast way to make unique backgrounds for art journaling or mixed media and collage.
Here is one of my favorite prints. I hope to have a video tutorial on how I created this soon.
Here is a print that I have started added more layers with oil pastels. This is a fun way to add more dimension to a piece.

Panting on a large scale
I have been busy getting ready for Christmas and I had to take a break so for the past 2days I have been working on a large scale painting. On day one I prepped my surface and added layers to the background.
Day two I started added layers of collage using wet wipes that were used during cleanup from other projects. I have been saving them up for a while now and thought that this would be a great way to use some of them.
I them added layers of paint over sections to add more texture. And it still seemed like it blended with the background too much so I added watered down white paint around the edges and feathered it out so that the tree would pop off the background.
I then pulled out a faber castel brush pen in a dark gray color and stared outlining the leaves. I added veining to some of them but this section is still a work in progress and I am thinking about incorporating words onto some of the leaves like I did in the journal page below.

Handmade Wrapping Paper with Mini Misters
I love color and this week I have been experimenting with Mini Misters and Golden Fluid Acrylic paints.
Supplies:
Here you can see that after letting it dry for a few min I added doodles with a Sharpie marker to bring out areas of the design. This effect make certain area of the design pop and come to the forefront.
I work with 5-6 foot long strips of paper at a time so that I can make as much printed paper as possible. You can also use the scraps from wrapping your presents for art journaling or adding to a scrapbook layout.
Supplies:
- I package of three Mini Misters
- Three colors of your choice Golden Fluid Acrylic Paints. (I used Cobalt Teal, Quinacridone Magenta, and Green Gold)
- Stencils of your choice. The more the better. I like using a lot of different stencils so that I can quickly make a lot of varied surface designs. (I use Crafters Workshop, Plaid and hardware store letters)
- Rolled Paper (i used a roll of white paper from Ikea, it is thick and holds up great to the paint and Misters.
- Sharpie Markers

Here is the journaling for this page:
Dinner and a Message Tonight
our church hosted the 1st of 3
Wednesday night dinners.
Tonight was a potluck dinner
where everyone brought enough
for their family and something
to drink. The pictures are
of the decorations that I
made for the night.
I forgot to get my camera out
for after taking pictures
of the decorations.

Daily December Day 4
Here is the Journaling for today’s Page
I worked at the Scholastic Book Sale
Today and the girls stayed with Papa.
Tim came home today and the girls
were hoping for a family game night
but the breaker for the fridge and
dishwasher kept flipping. So Tim and
Shae went to town to go get a new
breaker and then we found out that
it was not the problem after all. It was
the dishwasher. It had flooded causing
a short in the wiring. We are so blessed
that is was not the fridge because they
are very expensive.

Daily December Days 1 and 2
Day one was a fun day.We rode in the Christmas Parade and my Mom walked with me for our 4H club and we handed out books to the children along the parade route.
This is the 3rd year that we have used this countdown calendar and the girls don’t want a new one. We write something on the back that we do each day and put the year beside it and it really has become a keepsake.
I am working digitally again this year and this is what I am using.

Inspiration Monday
This journal page was created with a Crafter's Workshop stencil that I picked up at Hobby Lobby a while back. It is the numbers that are on this page. I used a drafting lettering stencil for the letters. The shadows or glow that is around the letters is done with Pentel Oil Pastels. I really like how smoothly they lay down on the page.
This page started off in just black and white (which is shown in the lower image ) but I felt that is really needed something more. So I added a little bit of color with the Pentel Oil Pastels and the numbers and letters are from the same stencils that I used on the first page.

Playing with new supplies
My local art gallery sells supplies and they had some cobalt teal from Golden still in stock.
I was so excited to see it in stock that I have to buy it.
I tried the quinacridone magenta and the green gold out on this page. I really like the way they look.
Here is another page that I created with a scraped paint technique. I used an old gift card to scrap a few colors on the page letting them dry between each color to make sure the colors did not muddy.
Here in a close up of the page.

Weekend Recap
I had a wonderful weekend. My daughter was my booth buddy on Saturday at the local market. I think it was too cold for the crowd and so it wasn't that great of a day. I am going to plan an open house for December. I will keep you posted.

From the Studio Faith Hope and Love
I have been busy this week getting ready for a sale on Saturday. I have been making a good collection of mixed media house collage paintings. I created three medium size ones on 1x4's and painted a solid color on the background and then added a crackle finish on top. I really like how these make me think of winter.
Each ones is different. I added doodles after paper piecing each of the houses. I even added rubons for added texture and then used various other mixed media techniques to finish each piece.
I really like the way the crackle is very different on each one. This just happened and I was a happy surprise. I applied the crackle medium the same way on each of the pieces but each on turned out different.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and I look forward to any of my local readers visiting me at Antiques and Stuff in Covington on Saturday.
