Inspiration Monday

I know I am a little late today posting this but I wanted to show what I have been working on lately. I hope that you will be inspired by it this week.

This was the start to my first Mandela. I didn't know what I was going to do but I knew that Ihad to start somewhere.

I started adding some lines to the inside and thickening the main design lines to make them pop.

This is how it turned out after about an hour of drawing and adding more lines and thickening other ones. I hope you like this one. I am in the process of working on another one tonight.

A Crazy Week

It has been a crazy week so far. One child sick then started feeling better and then the other child started feeling bad. I haven't been feeling so hot either. We totally skipped fall in Georgia and went straight to winter . It has been super cold and I haven't felt like doing much of anything for long periods of time until today. So most of my creative endeavors have been things that I could complete while sitting on the couch. I thought I would share the instagram pictures here with you.

I have been trying to come up with a few new ideas for new houses. I like to sketch them up before I start to cut paper or pull out any paint.

Inspiration Monday

I love urban areas. They are full of inspiration everywhere you look. From walls to sewer grates. I really love drawing these repeating patterns and they are a great way to add texture to your drawings and paintings.

This pattern would look great as stencils or stamps for background designs on papers as well as fabric.

I would love to have this pattern as a stamp. It would look great on a journal cover or a tote bag.

This design could be incopporated onto various items.

When you are in an urban area always remember to look up because some of the greatest art is at the top of buildings. I hope that you are inspired by these images as much as I am.

I love receiving free stuff and I really want to share how I do it. Influenster is one of the sites that I use and I really think that is is a great site and a great way to learn about new products.
Here is a Quote from their site:
"The Influenster Makeover brings all new changes to this trendsetting community. Reviews, Influenster Scores, Public Profiles, LifeStage & Expert Badges, and Invite-Only Membership to name just a few changes.

Friday Follies

My week in review. I have now done a week in review for a few weeks and I really have had a busy week this week and I want to share it with you. I have played around with a few new techniques and learned a few things also.

This is a large scale painting in progress. I had completed a painting on this canvas and it has hung on the wall above the piano in my living room, but I was never happy with it and said that one day it would be reworked. I like how it is looking so far but I have no idea where I am going with it. My vision for this piece has changed now that I have really worked on it again.

I made this owl for my youngest daughter . It really felt good sewing again. I haven't sewn much other than make the house pieces.

I made some painted fabric backgrounds also. I think that these will be the basis for some Christmas ornaments.

I played around with bleach gel in a fine tip bottle and made a few shirts with doodles on them. I really like the way that they turned out but you really need a well ventilated area for this project or the fumes will be really bad.

Isn't out a call on instagram for some snail mail partners. I also love to swap stuff. You can email me at my swap email if you are interested.

I played with a Crafters Workshop template that I purchased at Hobby Lobby and a few varied colors of stamp pads and a stencil brush. I love how it turned out.

I have a new giveaway starting at midnight tonight so come back and check it out.

A Productive Week

I have been absent here but I have been very active in my studio. I want to share a few of the new items with you.

I had this canvas laying around with just a few layers on it, and I was not really pleased with how it turned out. So I reworked it and went in a whole new direction.

Working On My New Studio Space

I am so excited about my new studio space. I have really been working on this new space lately. I decided to paint a small frame gallery wall over the area above my drafting table.

I have some large drawers in the center of the area that is under my cutting table. So I used one of them for all of my paints and painting supplies.

Here is a in progress shot to show my cutting table. The top is a little lover than normal counter height and it makes a great place to paint large pieces to to paint on large fabric pieces.

I will share more later this week but if you would like to see the daily progress you can follow my instagram feed over in the sidebar.
