Peeks from the studio
Here is a peek at a painting that I am working on. I hope you all are enjoying this long weekend here in the US. The official start of summer and a beautiful weekend here in the south. It has also been a great time to sit outside and paint. I picked up 10 new 10x10 canvases on Friday and just had to start working on one as soon as I could. I decided to use a page from my art journal for inspiration. I hope to be able to share a new painting each week for 10 weeks. I am working toward building my portfolio up.

This weeks Art Journal
I haven't shared my art journal in a while so i thought I would share a page that I started last night.
On this page I started out with a large black Sharpie, and just started adding circles. Then I added the line on the outside of the large circle. After that I started adding pattern to the inside of the smaller circles and I thought it needed a little something else so I added the words "Faith, Hope, & Love". Once I was finished with the doodle I started adding color with some Pentel Markers and I am thinking I might finish it off with some watercolor paints.
The markers that I used to color in the design are not waterproof so I might blend them with water once I start with the watercolor paints. This was a quick doodle that turned out to be something I really like and it might turn into a painting soon.

A work in progress
I have been adding more layers to a large canvas that I have been working on, on and off for the past year. It has been hung up on my walls at various times when I have thought that it was complete. But I have learned over the past few days that this painting is kind of like my life and how that God is the artist painting my life's picture and with each layer that has been add I have been in a different place in my life. Each time I think I am where I am supposed to be a new layer is added and I my life is changed. With each layer on this painting I have seen it change and become something different and something better. As like with my life as another layer is added I become different and new and hopefully better than the last thing, but even as a new layer is added e experience from the previous layers show through. Some have left scars and others have left beauty, but with each layer a new chapter has begun. We have to be willing to let God change us as we change the layers on the canvas and we have to hold in our hearts the promise that is found in the Bible.
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
You can see the layers coming through in areas of the painting as well as see the texture under the white paint.

Happy Friday
This has been an extremely crazy week. We spent the first part (mon-thu) camping. Then came home yesterday afternoon to be back for the girls 4H awards banquet. So I think I will share a glimpse of my week with you.
Driving to the North Georgia mountains.
What I read while we were gone.
Where we stayed at camping. This is out in the middle of the mountains, 2 1/2 miles from the paved road. I was so glad it had electricity and water.
We had to make the drive to Highlands, NC so that we could enjoy the ice cream.
We hiked down to this waterfall and was able to walk behind it and stay pretty dry.
Here is Anastasia trying to reach out and touch it, but it was too far away.
Camping wouldn't be complete without the wild animals.
Or playing in the creek. Even if the water was freezing still.
And finding interesting things on our hikes.
Then coming home to a great banquet where my girls were awarded for all their hard work with 4H this year.
Shae won one of the 2 top spots for 5th grade for the whole county.
And Anastasia won one of 3 top spots for 6th grade.
I hope you all have a happy Friday and a wonderful weekend as well.

Book Club Thursday With Link Party
Here is the cover description:
Juliette Taylor walked away from her career as a supermodel twenty-five years ago. Now approaching fifty – an emotionally complex milestone -- she co-owns a beauty supply company that makes skincare products for salons and spas. Her niche is pampering Christian women who usually spend more time caring for others than for themselves under the slogan: Isn’t it time someone took care of YOU for a change? When Juliette arrives at the Palm Grotto Spa to host a spiritual retreat, she runs into an old modeling colleague, Raven, who had always been disliked in the industry for many reasons. She isn’t there for the retreat; in fact, her presence at the spa is somewhat mysterious. Not long after Raven makes a cryptic threat to Juliette, the unsympathetic back-then beauty is found dead, poisoned by something in the green clay of a chai soy wrap. The following morning, a banner for the retreat has been unceremoniously altered:It’s your turn to be nurtured, to be restored . . . to be murdered.Suspicion is directed at Juliette who has history with Raven and certainly knows how to use beauty products. But for murder?! Now she must find the real killer before the police really take care of her.

Weekend Recap
It was a wonderful weekend and a busy on too. On Saturday , The youngest walked in the March of Dimes with my Mom and then we all went to J.A.K.E.S. day which is the festival put on by the Georgia Wild Turkey Federation.
On Sunday the girls woke me up to cards and presents. They are getting older now and so Tim had to take them shopping and they each had to pick out their own card.
I love how each of them are so different and you can tell their personalities by their handwriting.
We put the boys out to pasture and now they are no longer on the bottle. It makes me sad that they won't depend on us anymore for their dinner. They are eating grain and hay really good so now they get to be out in the grass and will start getting big quick.
