My Silhouette Portrait Arrived
I was so excited when I heard the FedEx truck pull up yesterday. My Silhouette Portrait arrived and I really just wanted to drop everything and get cutting. I was glad that dinner was in the crock pot.
This was the first thing that I cut using it. This flower is the free shape of the week right now and I just had to try it out. I love how it turned out.
Ever since I found out that I won this I have been playing around with the software creating cut file for whe it arrived. This one is a gift I am working on it is a baby stats subway art piece.
These glasses are a drawing that I converted into a cut file. I like how they turned out.
My youngest daughter's birthday is coming up next month and she wanted to choose a box for the treats and she choose this box from the silhouette online design store and it was very easy to assemble and I really think that the size is perfect.
Disclosure: I won this product via instagram. I was not asked to review it but I wanted to share how versatile this machine is and how easy it is to use.

I Won a Silhouette Portrait
Thanks to Silhouette America and their Instagram feed I won a Silhouette Portrait die cut machine.
I am so excited to try this out and I will be sharing projects as I make them. I am thinking about making some custom stencils for mixed media. I can see so much potential with this machine. I just had to share that you can only win contest if you enter them. In this morning's post you will find links to a lot of great giveaways that you can enter so go choose a few and good luck.

Canvas Play Part 1
I picked up a few small canvases to work on new classes that I will be offering starting in April. So here is a few pictures of my process.
A blank canvas.
Add some gel medium and a thrifted sewing pattern.
Add messy layers with 2 or 3 colors of paint.
Add some collage elements.
Paint on some petals using only 3 colors of paint.
Come back tomorrow for what is next.

New Journal Fun
Taking advantage of 40% off all sketchbooks and artists paper pads at Hobby Lobby this week I choose a Strathmore Mixed Media book.
I opened the binding comb and took out a few pages and started to work. I will remind them as they are completed. I really like working on them flat. Thanks to Roben Marie for the tip.
I picked three colors that will work for primaries.
I pulled out some of my well loved Handcut stencils and began to work adding color to the pages with a cosmetic wedge sponge.
As you can see from the pictures above you can achieve a lot of colors with just these three primary colors.
Tomorrow I will share a few of the pages that I created with my Gelli Arts Gel Printing Plate.

Thursday Journal Page
For this page I used a gel print that I had made with some of my Handcut stencils and masks.
Supplies for the original gel print:
Here is a close up of the page in progress
I love the sense of movement in this page.
the butterfly is me of my Handcut stencils that I made a few weeks back out of plastic overhead projector transparencies.
Here is the shaded finished page.
I added shading with a neocolor watercolor crayon and I might add more shading to the inside of the butterfly. If I do I will post and update.
