Gelli Print Updates
I was gifted a box of deli paper so I have been playing around with it using my Gelli Arts Gel Printing Plate. I really like the way the light comes through the colors so I am thinking I might use these to cover some to votive holders and see how the candle light looks coming through these.
Here is a quick video with all that I have made.

Playing Catch-up
I was out of commission for most of last week so now I am playing a little game I like to call catch-up.
I am working on adding more layers for this piece so that I can complete it. I really like the way it is so this might be as far as it goes for now. I will have to look at it for a while before I decide.
My youngest daughter even got into the act, with her own layers on this piece. This was her stopping point for the night.
I hope to be back to full steam soon.

Proud Momma Moment
I normally do not share much on a personal basis here, but I am having a proud momma moment today. This weekend both of my girls competed at the 4H District Project Achievement. They had to earn their way there just 2 weeks ago at County PA.
My oldest daughter competed in the veterinary science category and my youngest in between meal snacks. They both won 1st place at county for their category. This gave them the opportunity to compete at the district level.
Shae prepared "cowboy salsa" (I will share her recipe soon).
You can see Anastasia here in her room ready to present.
At the end of the day the both came home with ribbons. Anastasia with a 2nd place ribbon for her category and Shae with 1st place in hers.
I am so proud of them for all their hard work paid off.
On the way out we visited the famous Rock Eagle and climbed to the top of the observation tower to see it. From the ground it just looks like a pile of stones.

Fun Finds for Mixed Media
Check out Scarlet Lime - A Monthly Scrapbooking and Paper Crafting Kit Club for some great kits and great prices.
This is not a sponsor post. I am just a big fan and I love their kits so much that when this shipment came in I just had to share. The first 2 pictures are from one kit called "Heart Love Mixed Media Kit"
I love these from Amy Tangerine.
These mask and the next image are from the "Circle Love Mixed Media Kit"
I am so excited to try these new items out.
I really thought you might like to try out some new things too. These are on sale too right now so they are even more of a great deal.

Painting in Progress
This is going to be a photo heavy post today. I want to show you this painting in progress. It is still not complete but it is to the point where I am going to stop and decide what I want to do next.
Here it is after the layers of color were added.
Adding shapes
Filling in with white paint. Very hard to paint over the background this way. It makes me worry if I will mess the whole thing up doing this, but then I have to remember that it is just paint.
The pattern is starting to make itself shown.
At this point I really like how it is turning out. The contrast of light and dark is starting to make me happy.
Here is a better view of how it is going to turn out.
Here it is at the point where I think it will stop at, for now. I think I will add some more black of gray to it to add shadows and shading to bring out the pattern a little more.
Here a close up to show the texture of the piece.

Baby Shower Punch
Attended a baby shower yesterday and I just had to share this amazing punch recipe.
If you want to make a pink punch you can swap red punch for the blue punch.
- 1bottle white grape juice
- 1 bottle 7up
- 1/2 bottle of blue hiwaian punch
- 8 scoops of vanilla ice cream

This Week in the Studio
I have been very busy this week starting backgrounds on a lot of pieces and new sizes and shapes. I am really excited about the new shape and what my ideas are for taking them to completed pieces.
This week was all about limiting my palette of colors and working with colors that made me happy when I saw them. I went very bold on the backgrounds with a golden yellow and magenta. The finished pieces my not be so bold but right now I am loving the color and textures that is happening.
Here is a little detail shot so that you can see the layers of colors that have been added. (One trick to get such vibrant colors is to make sure that each of your layers are completely dry before adding another color. This will keep them from turning muddy.)
Here are the long pieces that are in the works. I have a technique with these that I have added on top of this layer.
Here they are after adding a layer with my Gelli Arts Gel Printing Plate.
Here you can see the color and texture that can be achieved by using the gel plate.
This is just one of the 3 large scale painting that have the backgrounds in progress. The messy layers are fun to create and really make the pieces pop when the others layers are added.
Here you can see the detail on the 2nd piece. These are very spontaneous backgrounds and really are fun to create.
This is the third one that has had even more layers added and is starting to show more movement and life.

Gelli Arts Gel Prints
I spent a little time yesterday in the studio working with my Gelli Arts Gel Printing Plate. I made a lot of prints in just a few min and I wanted to share my favorites with you today.
Gelliarts prints flip from Katie Cannon on Vimeo.
I created a little video with the Vine app but could not figure out how to link it here so I uploaded it to Vimeo.
This is one that came from using my handcarved stamps to create texture on the plate and then stamping off onto this page, so it is not really a gel print but you get the idea that u can you your stamps and still stamp with them too.
Here is the gel print that was made with the stamps. The stamps remove paint from the surface prior to taking the print.
This print was taken using my Handcut masks and having them left on the surface of the plate while the print was being taken.
This is the second print from the plate after taking the masks off the image still remained in the leftover paint.
This print is actually the second or "ghost" print and I like it better than the first one.

February Smash Book Spread
Here is the spread that I am working on for this month. I used cards from Elle's Studio and cut them in half . I used the smash pen to add numbers to each of the cards.
I really like how the cards are different sizes and and I have more space to write for each day.
I look forward to filling this one up with all the memories that this month can hold.
