I Joined The Reboot

Today is day 8 of my juicing journey. I was pursing through Netflix and decided that I would watch Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead. It really opened my eyes to what I needed to do to get my energy back. I have not been feeling good for a while now. I have an auto immune issue, chronic fatigue and acute inflammation. Watching this really helped me to see that this could be the answer to my problems. So I have been working toward going on a full juice fast. I have swapped out two meals a day with juicing and I can really tell a difference already. I have been off caffeine for 8 days, and I and working toward to going completely plant based. I don't eat red meat or pork because I am severely allergic to them. So I only eat Chicken or Turkey when I eat meat. I am working toward eating only fresh produce and not canned veggies, this is something that I have to work hard on because I have two teenage daughters and a husband who are used to eating a certain way and I plan on slowly making the transition for them as well. I am sharing this here to help hold me accountable and share some of the juice combos that I have found are really good. The 80/20 plan of 80% veggies to 20% fruit is a really goal for me but I really do have a sweet tooth so I am gradually making my way to this goal.
I also have my youngest daughter on this with me because she wants to lose weight like the Dr said she needed to . She is doing good even though I have not gotten her on the green train as of yet.

This is my Power Green Juice
  • 5 large kale leaves
  • 2 handfuls of spinach
  • 1 med Apple
  • 4 sprigs of parsley
  • 1/2 a larger cucumber
I really like this one because the apple adds sweetness and the cucumber cuts the bitterness of the kale. Make sure that you wash all our produce before you run it through the juicer. I like to wash everything and put it in a gallon zipper bag for each type of juice when I come home from the grocery store as this helps me to just grab and go.

This one is one that my daughter will drink.
  • 4 carrots
  • 1-1/2 Apple
  • 2 2 inch chunks of pineapple
  • 2 2 inch chunks of cantaloupe
The second Carrot based juice that I make is:

  • 4 Carrots
  • 1 Apple
  • 1 Orange
  • 1 Pink Grapefruit
This one is very good for breakfast. I like it because it is sweet and tart. I know that am getting my veggies with the carrots, so I feel pretty good about it.

My next one is trying Beets. I am looking to visit a juice bar soon so that maybe I can get some new ideas.
