Glimpses of My Life Travel Art Supply Kit

It has been a super crazy week in my part of the world. The stomach bug has hit us hard, both of my girls have been out of school all week long so I have been working from my travel kit instead of working with all my wonderful art supplies. I decided to share what I carry in my little bag from Freckled Fawn. I could carry a lot more but right now this is what is in there.

I also carry a couple of other items that didn't make it into the picture.

These have been my go to supplies for this bag for the past couple of months. It really is just enough for creating on the go or where ever I find I have even just a few minutes of time.

Get Creative With the Doodle Circle Journal

I love blank sketch books but sometimes I just wan to play on a already painted background with you the worry about needing to make a mess. That is where The Doodle Circle Journal by Dawn DeVries Sokol comes in. I can have this in my bag with a small envelope of collage fodder, a glue stick and some pens and I am able to create something anywhere I am. No mess required.

I used my favorite pen the Pilot G2 Gel Pen on this page and added a little more color to it with a couple of markers. This is one of those I am waiting on the kids pages where I added different things along the way and not all in one setting. This is a great way to work in a book like this because the size is perfect to carry in your bag.

I really love the colors that are already on the pages. This page has some more muted colors but I can already see some potential in this page for either doodles or journaling.

All I added to this page was a few collage bits and then I doodled the flowers the pink background was already there waiting for me to add my touch to the page.

I was experimenting with some of the stencils that I had created with my Silhouette Cameo and just a black pen was all that was needed to make a page that pops. Remember that it doesn't take a lot of supplies to be creative.

I have even used a few pages to practice a little handlettering as well. Remember that you don't need much time or a lot of supplies to add a little creativity to your daily life.

Glimpses of My Life Week 2

The seed catalogs have starting coming in my mailbox, and I am so excited about planting seeds and having a big garden this year. Since we have moved onto the farm I can just picture the areas that I will be planting. I have dreamed of a big field of flowers for cutting and a big herb garden area full of healing herbs. I love using fresh herbs for cooking and for teas.

Getting Creative with A Southern Lady Painted Hope

This is the first post of my weekly series called Let's Get Creative. I will be posting a new creative post each Wednesday to help you get creative along with me. I hope that you enjoy this painting fast forward.

Today I wanted to share a video with you. This is a cross that I painted a few months back. It has a lot of layers and the color goes from bright to pastel right before your eyes. I really enjoyed painting this cross and it has inspired me to create a lot more of them.
I started out just playing with supplies to see how they would work on the wooden cross.

Jewels and Mandalas Coloring Book

I have another coloring book in progress. I am working on adding a few more elements to the pages before it goes live. I am thinking that it might be avaliable as a printed mini coloring book as well after the first of the year. I would love to know what you think about being able to by a physical coloring book as well as a PDF that you can print.

This coloring book set will have 16 pages which is triple the coloring book pages that are in my previous coloring books. This collection includes both coloring pages of jewels as well as coloring pages of mandalas.
These designs are very detailed so they will give you hours of coloring fun.

This is an example of on of the simpler designs that is included in the book.
I love to take the time to color the coloring book pages before I make them for sale. I feel like that if I dont like to color the coloring book pages, I will not sell them. I think that you should enjoy the products you create. Each of these coloring book pages are the product of hours of drawing and sketching different designs to come up with the best designs for you to color.
A friend sent me the image below and I thought I would share it today.
