Handlettering with Watercolor paints

I have been practicing my handlettering and painting them with watercolor. I just wanted to share a peek into my process.

This one is still a work in progress and I have a lot more linework left to do before I start adding color.

My Logo Designs Process

I have been working on my new logo and these are the ones that I have come up with so far. I really want the design to be the focus and the colors will change with each collection and got packaging thus way the overall design will stay the same but the color will help the design to fit in each collection.

Be the Light Art Journal Spread

This is an art journal spread that I wanted to share today. It is truly a mixed media piece. I started with a page that I already had painted with Deco Art Media Gesso and let dry for a while. (A couple of days at least, I like to work in steps and will add Deco Art Media Gesso or base paint to the pages and let them dry for a while and them come back to them later). I then picked three colors of Aqua Marker that complemented each other and just added color to the page and than some water to let the run and bleed into each other.

After I let that layer dry for a while I went back and removed even more of the Aqua Marker color from the page so that I would just have a hint of the colors on the page. I took some Deco Art Media Fluid Acrylic Paint in colors that Complement the original colors and painted circles  on one side of the spread and a border of triangles on the other side.

I then sketched in the words "Be The Light" with a pencil and went over it with the Aqua Marker and they were really too light for the job so I used Prismacolor Colored Pencils to darken the letters and widen some of the strokes.

To finish it off I added a few highlights with a PITT Artist Pen - White Large Bullet Nib .

New Art Monday

I still working on my project for MATS Bootcamp. So , I really wanted to share some of the other designs that I have worked up.
This is a floral design based on a flower brooch. I used the color pallet that we were given and added a couple more colors and I thought made the designs pop.
This design is more of a fun design that I thought would fit in the tween market. I used the same color palette and I might try the same design with different colors just to see how it will change the feel of the design.

MATS Bootcamp Part 1

I am taking part in the Lilla Rogers Studio Class  Make Art That Sells Bootcamp this year. I am really enjoying creating with the projects and the prompts and I would like to share with you some of the things that I have been working on so far.

Inspiration from my collection of vintage brooches that were my Grandmother.

Shopping for even more inspiration at Hobby Lobby.

Drawing from my inspiration with both color pencils and my computer.

I love sketching with a pencil first and then inking the lines in with a fine line pen.

Here is one that I have worked up in a lot of different ways once I got it on the computer.

These are a couple that never made it past the sketch phase.
Come back tomorrow and I will have a few finished pieces that I have worked up.

MATS Bootcamp Prep

I am prepping my supplies and getting ready to start the MATS Bootcamp on January 5. Even though the class hasn't started we were given some great tips on how to prepair our workspace.
I am working on getting everything ready to start class so that my desk will be neat and organized and everything will still be in easy reach. I got this three tiered rolling cart at Michael's during one of their daily specials. I holds a lot and is very sturdy.

I will post more pictures of my workspace soon.

New journal in progress

am working in a new journal that I wi be using for this years Documented Life project. So it wanted to share a peek at how it is coming together.

I am working on a online class to teach you to make this journal. I will post more information about the class soon.
