EarBud Keepers

Are you like me and always are having to deal with tangled earbuds every time you go to pull them out of your bag? Well I am thought that making a little pouch would help solve the problem. I have been playing around with to up sock magic loop style and I thought how cute would it be to knit a small pouch for some designed the same way.  I decided to work from the top down with about 1/2 inch of 2 by 2 ribbing and then increase like you would for a toe up sock. I then added a few rounds with no increases and then worked a top down toe. I closed it up with the Kitchener stitch and sewed in the ends.

Once I start with a small project like this I couldn't just make one. It is like potato chips you can't have just one.

I have made 5 now i just need to take a picture of the 5th one.

I have been using my zippered project bag for these because they are so small and I am using up my scrap balls of yarn for them.

Hooked on Cables

I teach knitting and crochet and I have a student that I am working with her on a project and it is a cabled scarf and so I have been working on cabled in my own projects that I am knitting for a big festival this November. I will be at the 50th annual Deer Festival in Monticello, GA on Saturday, November 5. I used Red Heart Soft yarn for this project, and size 8 needles.

These are a couple of cabled card wallets that I have made. They are a quick knit and now I just have to find the perfect button to finish them off.

I was digging around looking for buttons and found this little stash of stitch markers and I am so excited.Iit really makes me want to knit a complicated pattern so I can use them.

I am also super excited about getting this in the mail. No matter if I know that I can shop online at anytime, there is just something about getting the catalog in the mail. Now I am just drooling over the beautiful yarns.

Getting Creative with the Silhouette Sketch Pens

Today we are getting creative with the Silhouette Cameo and the Silhouette Sketch Pens. I really want to share a few fun things that you can do with the Silhouette Cameo and the Silhouette Sketch Pens. I have been playing around with the sketch pens for a while and I an really excited about what I have been able to make with them.

This is a small card that would be great added to a greeting card. I really like how even though the type is small it is still clean and easy to read.

The sketch pens are a ballpoint pen and really do well. I would recommend that you store them cap side down so that they ink will settle in the tip and not skip. When you get a new pack you need to start them on a scrap piece of paper like you would with most new pens. This will make sure that they work as soon as the machine starts.

Here is a bunch of stickers in progress. I used the sketch pens to create the lettering and then let the machine cut each of them out.

Here is a flower design that I created with one of my original drawings. I think that I will make the lines thicker the next time I create one of these.

I really like that I can create unique business cards for when I go to a small event. This is a great way to try out a design without a big commitment. I have created a whole page of one design but you could make everyone of them a different design.

Let's Get Creative with Mixed Media Valentines Pt1

Today we will be making some Mixed Media Valentines. These are made with Vintage Sewing Book Paper, Decoart Paints, Decoart Decor Stencils, Sharpie Magnum, Faber Castell Pitt Pen, and a 0.7 Drawing Pen. I created a video for this weeks post and I am excited to share it.

I did not start out making these papers to become valentines. I was just making some quick background paper for collage fodder. I love making background papers to add to my stash so that I always have pattern paper on hand when I am ready to create. I really don't want my stencils to have a clean look I want them to look distressed and like they are old and weathered. This really helps to make them just a textural element instead of a focal element. I love just have them for layers when I begin to work on an art journal page.

Once I started to add the markers to the page I could see how these would make good heart shapes to add to some handmade valentines. I love making handmade valentines instead of buying a pre-made one. It really seems to have more meaning behind it because I took the time to make something from just a few supplies instead of just picking on off the shelf. I know that knot everyone has the ability to make them so even if it is bought it has meaning as well.

I hope you have enjoyed this look at making Mixed Media Valentines and will come back next week to see how I will finished them into a finished project.

Get Creative With the Doodle Circle Journal

I love blank sketch books but sometimes I just wan to play on a already painted background with you the worry about needing to make a mess. That is where The Doodle Circle Journal by Dawn DeVries Sokol comes in. I can have this in my bag with a small envelope of collage fodder, a glue stick and some pens and I am able to create something anywhere I am. No mess required.

I used my favorite pen the Pilot G2 Gel Pen on this page and added a little more color to it with a couple of markers. This is one of those I am waiting on the kids pages where I added different things along the way and not all in one setting. This is a great way to work in a book like this because the size is perfect to carry in your bag.

I really love the colors that are already on the pages. This page has some more muted colors but I can already see some potential in this page for either doodles or journaling.

All I added to this page was a few collage bits and then I doodled the flowers the pink background was already there waiting for me to add my touch to the page.

I was experimenting with some of the stencils that I had created with my Silhouette Cameo and just a black pen was all that was needed to make a page that pops. Remember that it doesn't take a lot of supplies to be creative.

I have even used a few pages to practice a little handlettering as well. Remember that you don't need much time or a lot of supplies to add a little creativity to your daily life.

Getting Creative with A Southern Lady Painted Hope

This is the first post of my weekly series called Let's Get Creative. I will be posting a new creative post each Wednesday to help you get creative along with me. I hope that you enjoy this painting fast forward.

Today I wanted to share a video with you. This is a cross that I painted a few months back. It has a lot of layers and the color goes from bright to pastel right before your eyes. I really enjoyed painting this cross and it has inspired me to create a lot more of them.
I started out just playing with supplies to see how they would work on the wooden cross.
