How to travel with your art supplies

During the summer I'm always on the go. I love to be able to draw and jotdown reference sketches while I have to wait one of the girls or if I findmself early for an appointment. So today I wanted to share with you how I am able to take a few supplies with me and still be able to be creative on the go.

I have three small pouches that really help keep me organized and creative anywhere I go.
Here is what is inside bag number one. This bag is just a small part of my collection of black pens and this pouch is in my bag all the time. I find that I draw more line work these days because I know I am going to scan it into the computer or rework it on my iPad so I really like having this in easy reach. I also have a few project life cards and some post it flags and a couple of rolls of washi tapes. I will normally carry a sketchbook with me when I have this pouch in my bag.
This is the bag I can add to my purse if I don't want to take a big bag with me. It has a few black pens, a mechanical pencil and couple of white erasers I also have a pack of blank 3x5 cards in a plastic case that I found at my local dollar store. This is a great way to make quick reference sketches when I am out and about.

Here is pouch number 3 this has all of the pens that I use for my Bible Journaling and the page flags that I use as bookmarks in my Bible. I have my business card holder as well. I love my InkJoy pens and the latte gel pens. I carry this with me to church so that I can add a little color when I take notes in the margins.

When I'm headed out and about all I have to do is pop one of the pouches into my bag add a sketchbook or journal and I'm ready for creating on the go. I hope this has helped you To see that with just a little planning it is easy to travel with your art supplies.

Camping in the mountains part 1

A few days ago went went for a four day camping trip to the North Georgia mountains. I just want to share a peek at all of the beauty that we experienced.
This was the view I had when I stepped out of my tent each morning. And I was able to go to sleep to the sound of the creek bubbling over the dam.

We built our fireplace here and it really made for a great place to sit and stay warm.

I love that our campsite had these large string of lights above it. It made for a beautiful scene and we could stay up past sundown and still be able to do the things that we wanted.

Here is the scene that we were surrounded by while we were there.

On Saturday morning we woke up to this and decide it would be a great day to load up in the truck and head to Cherokee, NC.

I will share this part of our trip tomorrow so come back and check it out.

Filming in My Home Town

For the past week there has been a film crew in my hometown filming a new Lifetime Movie. Here is a peek behind the scenes. My Aunt owns the restaurant in this building so she fed a lot of the crew. This movie stars Blair Underwood, Vanessa Williams and Cecily Tyson. I caught a glimpse of Ms. Tyson but I didn't get a good picture.

Family Adventure

This weekend we took the girls on a little adventure. We visited Jarrell Plantation just outside of Juliette Georgia. It was a fun day full of new experiences and good food.

This is the view that we has when we first started on the trail and it was such a beautiful site. The air was crisp and the smell of sugar was in the air. On the way to the syrup kettle we stopped in one if the houses along the trail and was able to taste fresh syrup on warm biscuits cooked in a woodburning stove.

The syruping pot was a 50 gallon pot that they were using. The pot would have to cook for at least 7 hours for the 50 gallons on Sugar Cane juice to become syrup. By the time it is finished it will only be 5 gallons of syrup.

All along the trail there were demonstrators showing various traditional handcrafts. From spinning to quilt makers.

This lady showed various toys that would have been played with on the plantation.

After we left the plantation we stopped for lunch at the Whistle Stop Cafe that was made famous in the movie Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe.

They have a signed original movie poster on display.
They have the best fried chicken and Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes

Around My Town Day One

I wan to take you on a trip around my town.
This is the most iconic building that is in my town. It has been seen in many TV shows and movies, such as The Dukes of Hazzard, Smoky and the Bandit, In the Heat of the Night, and currently The Vampire Diaries.
This is one the of the views of the Town Square. I love this town and the people in it.

This is a great antique shop, that has a wonderful selection of items to decorate your home.

I hope you enjoy this trip around our Town Square. I will be back soon with more views from my town.

A Family Day

Yesterday my husband, my girls and I spent the day at a local plantation.

We hiked the area and took in the sights.

Walked through the old homes and buildings on the property and just enjoyed being together.

this is an old store building that was brought on to the site and on the inside it still has all of the shelving that is original to the store.

I love history and learning about new places. This was a great way for us to spend the day together and be outside and enjoy the time spent with each other.

A Weekend Recap

On Saturday my and my daughter spent the day at the AmericasMart in Atlanta. We had a blast and were able to meet a lot of great people.

Here is Ted Allen from Food Network's Chopped. We were able to be in the audience while they filmed Hume doing a cook demo. Some yummy things were cooked from his new cookbook.

Here is Anastasia taking a ride in the Bridgewater Candle Company VW Bug. It was covered in art by Caroline Siemas from Multiple Blessings.

We went back to the demonstration kitchen when Atlanta's own Fox Brothers from Fox Brothers BBQ were showing how to cook the perfect ribs. We enjoyed sampled of these while we watched and they were delish.

We also visited lots of beautiful showrooms. Over all we had a great day. I loved having a day for just me and Anastasia.

Road Trip

My husband delivers campers and trailers. I have not rode with him in a long time so when he got a trip to Flint, Michigan he asked if I would go along for the ride. The girls stayed at home with Nanny and Papa, and we headed out.

Here is the racing trailer that we were taking up.

Getting on I-75 headed north.

I love taking pictures of the state welcome signs and so this was the first.

We thought we wouldn't see the sun all day but we got a break in the clouds, and it was beautiful.

By the time we got into Kentucky it was grey again but it is such a beautiful state.

I love seeing all the farms.

I couldn't get a good picture of the Ohio sign because we were coming into Cincinnati.

I really like how they put words on the bridges. There are a few different ones along I-75.

This was as good as it got for Michigan. There was a trucker in the way of the sign so I could not snap a picture.

After we dropped off our load in Flint. We drove down toward Detroit and found our first of two Bass Pro Shops of the day.

We needed a little bit of exercise so we walked around the Great Lakes Walk mall for a little bit and then after visiting BPS. We headed back out.

I have always wanted to visit the great lakes and so because we were so close we stopped in Luna Pier, MI. It is so close to the interstate that when you get off the exit you can see the water on the horizon..

Less than five minutes later we were back into Ohio.

And not too long after that we were at our second Bass Pro Shop of the day. I did get him to let me stop at a Mejir's, I so wish they were in Georgia.

These beautiful flowers were outside the the BPS.

By the time we got back to pick up our trailer to come home with it was raining and there was such a beautiful rainbow in the sky. I really wish this picture did it justice.

Now we are on the way home going back the way we came and it is so overcast that I can't really get any good pictures. I have a bunch on my camera so when I get back I will share more.
