This fabric is one of my favorite projects to create. I use basic craft paints for the background working on building up layers of texture and depth. After all this is dry I them add the final layer with Scribbles 3D fabric paints.
I really love the look of the designs created with the Scribbles 3D Fabric Paints
This ship was magnificent. I was so imposing when you were beside it. On the bottom of the boat near the back there is a depth indicator that tells you how much of the ship is under the water. When we were there there was another 16 feet of the ship that was under the water and as large as it was standing beside it to imagine that there was another 16 foot under the water that we could not see it was just wow.
I hope you have enjoyed the past few days of touring Savannah, GA and Tybee Island.
When you arrive at River St, via Bay street you will have your choice of these steep stairs to make the descent down to River Street. There are a couple of elevators available as well as ramp type access., but I love taking a walk down the beautiful stairs and thinking about how long they have been there and how many people have traversed them
We were able to visit the Savannah Tall Ships festival and the girls were excited to see these big ships They were very large and the pictures really don’t do them justice. They really are so much bigger in person.
We also were able to watch a couple of freighters leave the port and because they are so large no other ship is able to move in the river while it is heading down river. I guess it is because of the wake that it produces. To put it’s size into perspective each one of the containers on the top of the ship is 53’ long by 8’ wide by 10’ tall.
This is the view of the Savannah River Bridge from River St.
This ship was open to go aboard but you had to purchase a ticket for this one so we were only able to view it from the other side of the river from aboard the Ferry Boat.
Come back tomorrow for a view of the US Tall Ship the Eagle. . . . . . .
Savannah is one of my favorite cities. I love the trees and the moss hanging from them. The squares and parks are so inviting. I just want to sit and take it all in. The old homes draw me in and make we imagine what might have went on inside them over 100 years ago.
I love the white paint because it looks so clean and fresh.
This old hospital has been turned in to a senior living facility but they have kept the original façade and feel of the place.
Thank you turn a corner and find a truly unique home painted in very bold colors. Savannah is very full of character and charm
Add in all the beautiful flowers that are around and you will see what a beautiful city Savannah is.
Come back tomorrow for a tour of River Street and the Savannah Tall Ships.
Fort Pulaski is so interesting and full of unique details I wanted to devote a whole post to it. If you ever find yourself in the Savannah, GA area I think that this is a must see attraction. It is great for the history buff and for the child in your family who likes anything to do with ships and cannons.
There is daily cannon firing demonstrations and wonderful views of the surrounding marsh and waterways. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring some water, and get ready to explore.
This areas floors was lost to a fire and was not restored so that visitors could see how the supports were constructed.
The Settlers store inside the fort sells all kinds of items, from castile soup, to reproduction blue glass, and books on the period.
Look at all that lovely blue glass. I t reminds me of the blue glass that I used to bring back from Israel. I just love blue glass.
These tress standing in the center of the courtyard are beautiful and the shade is so inviting. It was pretty warm that day so any bit of shade was greatly appreciated.
My girls thought it was cool that these had our name on them “Cannon” so I had to take a picture of it.
Come back tomorrow to explore the City of Savannah with us. I hope you enjoy traveling along with us. . . . . . . . .
I can’t believe that it has been so long since I posted. I have been away longer than I expected. I had to have surgery last week and I was not feeling well leading up to the surgery so I didn’t have much to say. But I am back now. I had to have oral surgery to remove my wisdom teeth and it was a little more intensive than my Dentist had expected and it required a little more work on the jaw bone than normal so I am still dealing with a little pain (I have a high tolerance for pain), but I am having more energy every day.
Last week was supposed to be our family vacation because my husband had the whole week off, but with my surgery on Tuesday we didn’t get to have a full week. It all hinged on how I was feeling and if I felt up to a drive. Well on Friday I started feeling like I could so on the spur of the moment we left Friday afternoon about 5pm for a drive to the beach.
We stayed on Tybee Island, GA and had a great time. We spent a few hours on the beach (until it got so crowded that I felt smothered) and them back to the pool for a while.
After resting in the hotel for a little while we took a drive back toward Savannah and took the Kids to Fort Pulaski (which is in between Tybee Island and Savannah). I love to add something educational into the mix of all of our trips and this gave an opportunity for a Georgia history lesson, combined with a Civil War.
Come Back Tomorrow for our Journey through Fort Pulaski . . . . . . .
