Art Journaling Fast Forward

This is a page from my Dylusions Journal by Ranger. This is a small sized journal and I really like the size. At first thought it would be too small but I really think that this size is perfect to try out new techniques without having to invest too large of a page. I find that I can finish a page in a short amount of time and really enjoy the process

Color Study Friday

I am a little late today getting this posted and I wanted to make sure that I was able to share this. I love the mid summer flowers and here in Georgia the heat is a little tough on them so they start to fade and don't grow as big as they do in the late spring and early summer. I love all the colors that I found in this image of a Zinnia from the local community gardern . I think that these colors will look great on lots of different applications. I hope that you enjoy the weekend and I will see you back here on Monday as I continue to post from where ever I can find wi-fi. The digital nomad life is fun and I love the time to explore but can't wait to put down roots at our new farm.

A Peek inside my Sketchbook

Today I wanted to share a peek inside my sketchbook. I am working on a few new floral coloring sheet designs. I am also turning these into a surface pattern design that will be available in my zazzle store soon.

Since we are in transition this summer between homes and are living with my mom, I am working with a very limited amount of art supplies. I have a bunch of white copy paper and a good collection of black pens and I have been working on the computer for adding color to my designs. I'm using an app on my iPad to scan my drawings in and then I am using the app InkPad to convert my drawings to vector and then all is have to do is transfer them to the computer to continue working on them . I have some exciting projects in the works that I can't wait to share them as soon as I am able to share.

Ramblings from the Road

Our new farm is coming together. Even thought it might not be as fast as I like it, it is coming and we will be there when it is the perfect time for us to be there. Today I wanted to share a few views from the dirt roads near our farm. I have always loved dirt roads and how you feel like you are transported back to a slower time, a time when like moved at a more relaxed pace. When you didnt just wave at your neighbor when you drove by you atually knew your neighbor. You talked to them and they knew your family and your story and you knew theirs.

I feel like being at our farm is that way. I feel like we step through a time warp and are in a more simpler time and place and that time slows down even just a little. I really wish it would as I look at my daughters too. My oldest will be getting her learner's permit and is already practicing driving on our long driveway. She is as excited as I was the summer that I was getting mine. Our birthdays are only 5 days apart (in October) and so the summer that I was getting mine it could not come quick enough. By July I was counting the days until my birthday, she is doing the same and it is bittersweet for this mamma. It seems like just yesterday when I was expecting her and I was excited to be able to be a mom. Now she is a teenager and time has just seemed to fly by. I miss the little girl she was but I am very proud of the young lady she has become. So when I spend time on these old dirt roads I wish I could turn back the hands of time and hold my baby girl just a little bit longer.

My youngest daughter will be starting 8th grade this school year and it seems like just yesterday that she started school and now she will be in her last year of middle school. She is taller than me now and loves that she can look down to me. She is such a blessing and I love the time I get to spend with her. She loves doing all the girly things with me and I love having my shopping buddy. She is excited about 8th grade but a little nervous as well. She will be starting a new school this year because of our move and so this will be a big adjustment for her. I know that she will do great but I can't help but be a little nervous myself for her.
I know that this has really been a ramblings post so I hope that you all have a great week. I am a digital nomad now that we have moved so I am trying to post whenever I am able to get a good wi-fi connection. I am still super busy with my art just having to be more portable until the house is finished on the farm. I will post more art here soon and I have a few projects that I hope to have ready to show soon as well.

How to travel with your art supplies

During the summer I'm always on the go. I love to be able to draw and jotdown reference sketches while I have to wait one of the girls or if I findmself early for an appointment. So today I wanted to share with you how I am able to take a few supplies with me and still be able to be creative on the go.

I have three small pouches that really help keep me organized and creative anywhere I go.
Here is what is inside bag number one. This bag is just a small part of my collection of black pens and this pouch is in my bag all the time. I find that I draw more line work these days because I know I am going to scan it into the computer or rework it on my iPad so I really like having this in easy reach. I also have a few project life cards and some post it flags and a couple of rolls of washi tapes. I will normally carry a sketchbook with me when I have this pouch in my bag.
This is the bag I can add to my purse if I don't want to take a big bag with me. It has a few black pens, a mechanical pencil and couple of white erasers I also have a pack of blank 3x5 cards in a plastic case that I found at my local dollar store. This is a great way to make quick reference sketches when I am out and about.

Here is pouch number 3 this has all of the pens that I use for my Bible Journaling and the page flags that I use as bookmarks in my Bible. I have my business card holder as well. I love my InkJoy pens and the latte gel pens. I carry this with me to church so that I can add a little color when I take notes in the margins.

When I'm headed out and about all I have to do is pop one of the pouches into my bag add a sketchbook or journal and I'm ready for creating on the go. I hope this has helped you To see that with just a little planning it is easy to travel with your art supplies.

iPad Art

I took the leap this past week to the digital art world. I have been creating art on the computer for a few years now and I love the flexibility of using Abobe Illustrator and Photoshop. I have been watching some beautiful art being created using the apps that are out there for the iPad. So when the opportunity came along for me to get and iPad I though it was the perfect time to do so.

Over the next few weeks I will be sharing the apps that I am trying and how each one vary. This is a fun learning experience for me and so I want to share it with you me readers. I am blogging from my iPad rightnow using the Blogsy app.

The Rain rain go away image was created with the app Paper by 53

The drawing above was created with the Sketches app. This is an app that has layers. When you creat your drawing with layers it will export each layer so that you can work with it in vector format.
